Energy Ministers and World Bank to Help Countries
Scale Up, Integrate Renewable Energy in Grids

Dear GENI Friend,

Fifteen years ago, GENI was invited by the US Dept. of Energy (DOE) to participate in several Energy Ministerial level meetings.  The DOE staff liked our message and we were given tremendous access to 20 Latin American Ministers (New Orleans, LA), 40 African Ministers (Tucson, AZ) and 30 ASEAN Ministers (San Diego, CA).  In fact GENI worked closely with Energy Secretary Bill Richardson's office to bring the ASEAN (Assn. of Southeast Asian Nations) Ministerial meeting to San Diego. Now many of these same national Ministers have created the annual Clean Energy Ministerial along with the World Bank to drive this expansion.

Their Goal: accelerate the development of renewable energy in all nations and connect that power into the electric grid.  They are offering technical assistance, planning resources and the financing to get projects built.

That's the GENI Initiative: to accelerate the interconnection of electrical grids with an emphasis on

(China's Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang) abundant renewable energy resources on all continents.

This is positive news and worth celebrating. Yet so much is needed to make the transition happen especially funding.  The International Energy Agency (IEA) states that investment in clean energy must triple to $1.2 trillion through 2030 to reach 1 billion who lack electricity today.

This leadership by Energy Ministers and the World Bank is what's needed.  Support them by sharing their commitment. We need your help to link, share and promote this clean strategy in your country.
